SGS Elaborates new Madrid s Teatro del Canal Self-Protection Plan
SGS’ Health and Safety area has been responsible for the Self-Protection Plan of one of the buildings destined to be emblematic for Madrid, the new Teatro del Canal (Centro de Artes Escénicas de la Comunidad de Madrid). The Theatre has been designed by architect Juan Navarro Baldeweg, to whom Comunidad de Madrid entrusted the elaboration of the project.
Located in the heart of the city, the architectural complex has been located on an 8.750 square metres building lot and is formed by three buildings of more than 35.000 square metres of built surface that, in words of those in charge of the building process, wants to set a landmark and “answer the most demanding requirements the scene requests.
The building will have a centralised management system for all the facilities connected with the scenography control board and allowing implementing different configurations “according to the author or play’s director desires”.
The realisation of this Self-Protection Plan has been a great challenge fot the SGS’ Health and Safety area due to the distinctiveness of the facilities and the complexity to act in case of emergency.
