Last March 8th, SGS organized a symposium-breakfast entitled “Labor Sickness Suing, is it possible to defend yourself?” at Barcelona’s Hotel Pere IV. This symposium was organized in collaboration with Baker & McKenzie Law Firm and had the participation of Mr. José Prieto, Baker & Mckenzie’s member and SGS H&S in Cataluña’s ex-Manager and technician in chemical risks and workteams, Mr. Ramon Pou.

Attendants to the symposium were mainly H & S technicians, labor medicine doctors and HHRR managers.

The breakfast’s main objectives were:

  • To deliberate on the organizations’ responsabilities on labor sicknesses.
  • To insist on the importance of tackling the defence strategy from the beginning.
  • To expose that the company has to prove the working conditions have been acceptably maintained through time.
  • To analyze particular labor sickness cases to show the practical defense procedure.

At the end of the symposium an interesting debate took place regarding the issues shown, and those assisting proposed more seminars like this, since its general interest has been increasing nowadays.
