Last May 8th SGS organized a symposium-breakfast entitled “Management in building works with or without project, Is it possible to comply with legal responsibilities?” at Barcelona's Hotel Pere IV. This breakfast had as main speaker the Doctor, Edification Engineer, Technical Architect and Specialized in Health and Safety in Construction Jesús Esteban Gabriel.

Those attending the symposium were mainly health and safety technicians and those in charge of maintenance in their organizations.

The symposium's main objectives were:

  • To show how to prove that a proper health and safety managament has been implemented.
  • To provide practical criteria and Labor Authorities' demands.
  • To present the recent update of RD1627/97 technical guide. The definition of construction work as the main base to implement health and safety management.
  • To analyze the key aspects and practical recommendations to have a good defense against trial when an accident in the working environment has taken place.

During the seminar's break, a debate on the shown subject sprang up, and those attending suggested to have more seminars like this, since it is a very relevant issue nowadays and with ever increasing interest.
