SGS Certificates Alcudia’s Council Beaches Environmental Management
On January 30th took place the certification issuance in compliance with ISO 14001 International Regulation in an event celebrated at Feria Internacional de Turismo (FITUR) with, amongst others, Balearic Islands Region President, José Ramón Bauzá, Mallorca’s Consell President, Maria Salom, Tourism Conseller, Carlos Delgado, Balearic Islands Representative, Teresa Palmer, Alcudia’s Major, Coloma Terrasa, Alcudia’s hotel association’s presidents and SGS Balearic Islands Manager, Agustí Ibáñez.
The scope of the audit performed by SGS comprehends: Cleaning, maintenance, spa exploitation, news stand and nautical apparel, sun loungers and parasols, lifesaving and surveillance management for Platja d´Alcudia, Platja d´Aucanada, Platja de Sant Pere, Platja de Sant Joan, Platja de s´Illot, Platja des Morer Vermell, Platja de Sa Marina and Platja de Can Cap de Bou.
The Major Coloma Terrasa noted that “This certification is a quality seal, an added value that proves we are on the right track and a working method to achieve the beaches’ conservation and to continue to be recognized and appreciated by visitors and tourists alike”. She also highlighted that the joint efforts between all involved parts has been really important to achieve such certificate.
This certification coincides with the recognition by TRIPADVISOR’s visitors that Alcudia’s Beach has been chosen as the best beach destination in Spain and the 25th one in the world.
Balearic Islands President, José Ramón Bauzá congratulated the Council for this achievement and highlighted the importance of environmental parameters control ISO 14001 Certification given by SGS, given the important work performed by the Council, “opting for quality and service for their visitors”.
To SGS Balearic Islands Director, “such recognition proves the efforts of those that make it possible and that have understood the commitment to continuous improvement it involves. We must recognize the hard work invested by all the Council members and by Sostenible XXI consultant organization, so it is a pleasure to give this recognition not only as SGS Balearic Islands Director but as a common citizen who enjoys Alcudia’s beaches with his family”.
