SGS Gives ISO 9001:2008 Certification to Las Palmas’ Port Authorities
Las Palmas de Gran Canaria’s Port Authorities have fulfilled their 2013 Quality-related objectives: to implement a Quality Management System under “Maritime Traffic Management” title in compliance with ISO 9001:2008 Standard.
Last May 10th 2013 took place at Las Palmas’ Port Authorities facilities the delivery event of such certification to Port Authorities’ President, D. Luis Ibarra, by SGS in Canary islands Certification Manager, Héctor González Álvarez, and SGS in Canary Islands Canarias Regional Manager, Juan Argenti Biering.
Scope of the system:
- Docking management: authorization / docking and anchoring (Docking Line and Control Centre).
Port Operations linked to Port Police Service: control of:
- Ship docking and casting-off management
- Damages caused on port facilities
- Operaciones de carga y descarga de petroleros
- Oil tanker load, unload, transship, and ship provisioning.
SGS ICS Ibérica, S.A. has analyzed exhaustively during the last March 20th to 23rd Las Palmas’ Port Authorities compliance with the quality standards.
This certification results from a joint performance between several departments within Port Authorities, coordinated by its Quality Department. During the next years, this system is expected to strengthen and to be extended to other processes and services the APLP provides to their customers.
