As part of the Safety School and the specialized training on security’s advertising, SGS has imparted recently a Technical Seminar on Good International Practices on Explosive Atmospheres (ATEX). The seminar took place last May 23rd 2013 at Confederación Empresarial de la Provincia de Tarragona (CEPTA)’s premises.

The seminar focused on the IEC (International Electrotechnical Committee) standard known as IECEx. This internationally scoped-voluntary scheme includes Ex equipment certification as well as certification of personal competences related to explosive atmospheres.

The diverse methodologies for the classification of Ex zones and the risk of explosion analysis were explained, too, finalizing with the adaptation between the local regulatory regulations and the voluntary international standards, in particular in relation to the legal requirements to impart training on explosive atmospheres.

This event was attended by technicians and engineers in charge of maintenance duties, industrial facilities’ security and / or health and safety sections and also those interested in the international good practices in the explosive atmospheres sector.
