Last Wednesday June 5th took place a training seminar at Cartagena’s FIRE & SAFETY School for the Health Care first year students from Instituto de Enseñanza Secundaria Mediterráneo located in Cartagena. The seminar, directed by First Aid training manager, Pilar Méndez Fernández, was divided in 4 parts: reception and tour through the school, simulation by Industrial Rescue Team and RCP workshop.

During the reception, Emergency Services Coordinator presented the students with the equipments and their functions as well as noting which services SGS provides in the Training and Health & Safety areas.

After the presentation the simulation was performed: a person who is suspended must be rescued and evacuated, divided in several stages depending on the surrounding circumstances:

  • the victim’s descent and stabilization
  • transport preparation
  • ascent via rescue tripod to look for exits
  • descent to start the victim’s final evacuation

After the simulation there took place the first aid workshop consisting in 3 stations (RCP, Upper Respiratory obstruction and bandages, both on adult and pediatric level) where the Team and DUE Manager, Francisco Villalba, chatted with the students to solve doubts.

Collaboration with training centers is part of the FIRE & SAFETY and SGS Industrial Rescue Teams promotion strategy.
