El servicio de Ayuda a la Navegación Marítima de Algeciras recibe la ISO 9001 a la calidad

Bahía de Algeciras’ Servicio de Ayuda a la Navegación Marítima has obtained the quality certification, a document ensuring the operativity and safety of such harbour facilities. The certificate was given by SGS last March 18th to Bahía de Algeciras Harbour Authorities’ president (APBA), Manuel Morón.
During last year, APBA’s Unidad de Ayuda a la Navegación has developed ten working procedures encompassing most of the tasks performed by those in charge of the proper functioning, inspections, monitoring, failures and maritime signals management, etc., that rely on this Harbour Authorities. The proper performances of these devices give assistance and alert the ships about hazards in the seashore, ensuring the coast and docks’ safety.
APBA gathers a hundred of maritime signals, buoys and flare-paths located in Algeciras, Tarifa and La Línea harbours, as well as the flare-path in Punta Paloma and the beacons placed in Tarifa, Punta Carnero y Carbonera, all of them located in Cadiz’s seashore from Barbate river to Sotogrande’s harbour, including Algeciras bay, except Gibraltar’s harbour and lighthouse. Such maritime signals mark the entrance channel to the harbour or landfall and illuminate the shore, amongst their functions.
The two audits performed during last 2007 have controlled and ensured the good performance of APBA, confirming their management system complies with ISO 9001:2000 Regulation.
