SGS Attends Technical Conferences on Wind Energy in Spain
SGS attends the Wind PowerExpo 2009 (September 22-24, 2009) and the Technical Conference on Risk Assessment (October 13, 2009) in Spain. Both events are organized by the Spanish Wind Energy Association.
The Spanish Wind Energy Association Asociación Empresarial Eólica (AEE) (Available only in Spanish version) , of which SGS is a member, represents Spain’s wind power sector to different entities and administrations. AEE also forms working groups to take action on actual issues, organize events for the industry and publish reports and studies about the market.
The AEE organized two upcoming events which will provide SGS experts the opportunity to demonstrate the company’s capabilities in the wind energy sector.
Wind PowerExpo 2009 Wind PowerExpo 2009 is the 7th International Exhibition on Wind Energy and will take place on September 22-24, 2009 at the Zaragoza Exhibition Center in Spain. The event will cover the most important topics in the wind power sector and international speakers will share their views on issues like wind farm direction phases, transport and logistics, operation and maintenance, repowering of existing farms and offshore wind energy.
In the session on blades’ maintenance and repair, Torsten Muuß, SGS Global Technical Manager for Renewable Energy, will talk about rotor blade problems and inspection methods.
Torsten has been in the wind business for nearly 10 years. His experience includes working for wind turbine manufacturers as well as a certification body. He has held the position of SGS Global Technical Manager for Wind Energy since April 2008.
Technical Conference on Risk Assessment in the Wind Energy Sector AEE and the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) organized the Technical Conference on Risk Assessment in the Wind Sector, slated for October 13, 2009. The whole-day conference will be held in Pamplona, Spain, and will focus on risk assessment in wind turbine workshops, transportation, installation, maintenance, exploitation and the final phase of dismantling.
With this conference, AEE and EWEA aim to participate in the European Campaign on Risk Assessment launched by the European Agency for Safety and Health (EU-OSHA), to create a guide for risk assessment in the wind sector.
In the session on Risk Assessment in Wind Farm Installation, Marta Pejenaute, Heath and Safety Technician at SGS, will give a speech about machinery and equipments. Marta holds a Master’s Degree in health and safety in industrial safety and industrial hygiene. She is the Technical Coordinator for the Health and Safety Department in SGS Navarra since 2004.
The language of the presentation, as well as of the whole conference will be Spanish.
