Students from Cartagena’s Mediterráneo High School Visited Safety School FIRE and SAFETY
Last Thursday March 14th took place a training seminar at Cartagena’s Safety School (FIRE & SAFETY) imparted to students from the city’s First Year of Child Education Studies, part of Instituto de Enseñanza Secundaria Mediterráneo. Divided in 4 parts (welcoming, exposition of the school, simulation by Industrial Rescue Group and RCP workshop), the visit was presented by First Aid teacher, Pilar Mendes.
Emergency Services Coordinator, Claudio Aguirre, welcomed the students and presented them the equipment and their purpose, as well as a brief resume of the services SGS provides in the Training and Prevention area.
After the presentation they performed a simulation in industrial environment where a person is hanging and has to be rescued and evacuated via three phases due to the dangerousness of the location: descent and stabilization of the victim and transportation setup, ascent by rescue tripod in search of the fastest and safest way out, and a last descent to start the victim’s final evacuation.
A small workshop began after the simulation, consisting in three stations (RCP, Airways obstruction and bandage, both on adult and pediatric level) where all DUE teams interacted with the students to reinforce their knowledge and to solve doubts.
Such collaboration with the training centers is part of the FIRE & SAFETY communication strategy implemented and the actions performed by SGS’ Industrial Rescue Groups.
