SGS has given Social Responsability SA 8000 certification to Organización Sanitaria Municipal Badalona Serveis Assistencials (BSA), turning BSA (with nine centres and a human team of more than 1000 employees) into the first health organisation in Spain to be certified against this regulation.
Amongst the implemented actions that lead to the certificate, it is remarcable the commitment for the improvement of labour conditions and respect for the Environmental and Human Rights, resulting in energy saving and waste reduction via non printing of radiographies or using the electronic clinic dossier, reducing paper consumption.
Also, BSA organises Corporate Social Respponsability seminars to explain their experiences and influence the sector’s organisations.
Badalona Serveis Assistencials’ Manager, Mª Àngels Cabezas, affirms that “this certification means an incentive to keep on integrating ethics in our company’s management, as well as a way to advance towards social responsability since we decided to stick to the UN’s World Agreement”.
In relation to this, Cabezas remarked the “high level of involvement and the human team’s efforts in all centres belonging to the organisation that made possible to achieve this social responsability certification”.
